    It is simple math really.  If you take in less calories then your body burns during the day, then your body will burn fat to make up the difference.  Wear a step or calorie burning counter to estimate how many calories your body is burning throughout the day.  Log the calories of everything you eat.  Always keep your calorie input less then your calorie output.  No cheating, no forgetting to log.  Remember exercise burns much more calories then sitting still.  So stay active and always moving, the more calories you burn, the more you can eat.
